Clinton Herget
Field CTO
Snyk
I spent about two decades building software for a living, and now I talk about building software for a living. The latter is *much* easier.

In my role as field CTO at Snyk, I help leaders at organizations of all sizes address their DevSecOps challenges by focusing on the unique role played by software developers in securing modern, cloud-native applications.

I spent many previous lives as a cloud solutions architect, DevOps engineer, dev team manager and technical consultant with 20 years experience building and supporting complex cloud-first web and mobile applications. I excel at combining problem solving and rapid prototyping skillsets with polished communications in client-facing roles, resulting in a proven track record of crafting successful technical solutions for cause-driven organizations.

I'm a passionate advocate for contemporary SDLC methodologies like microservices, TDD/BDD, CI/CD and everything-as-code, regardless of how close my hands are to the keyboard (mechanical, of course). I still can't resist a late night of playing with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, Bash and Python.

My early days were spent building soup-to-nuts (less full stack and more full StackOverflow) web applications using frameworks like Drupal, PHP/Symfony, Rails and NodeJS, managing production Linux VMs and databases and writing Apache and Nginx configuration files in my sleep. (Literally. It is still a problem.)

I especially enjoy leveraging my strong technical background in highly communicative and client-facing roles such as pre-sales engineering, solutions architecture, consulting, enablement and training. As a recovering theatre kid and debate team captain, I thrive on presenting technical subject matter across a wide range of audiences.
