With rapid transformation expanding the use cases for public key infrastructure (PKI), digital trust has become the backbone for security in the connected world; securing users, software, servers, devices, digital content and the Internet of Things (IoT).  As the number of IoT devices explodes, many manufacturers have worked to provision and manage certificates for their devices.  However, as the world becomes more interconnected, securing connections between devices from other manufacturers is an emerging trend that is becoming more important.

Further impacting the PKI ecosystem is the impending approach of quantum computing.
