Michelle Dunivan, PhD, is the analytics director for Best Friends Animal Society, where she leads research, advanced analytics, visualization, product and governance. Since joining Best Friends in January, 2022 she has leveraged Best Friends’ data culture to make analytics even more accessible to the entire organization, while expanding Best Friends’ reputation as a thought leader in animal welfare data and analytics. Prior to working at Best Friends, she established a data and analytics presence at the fourth-largest judiciary in the US, in Maricopa County, addressing reliable and efficient compliance reporting, operational insights, and strategic initiatives including data integrity, and diversity, equity and inclusion. Michelle earned her PhD in Communication from the University of Arizona in 2012, has taught 32 communication courses at colleges and universities, and is a certified trainer for Crucial Conversations. Michelle served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Court Management, and is currently a member and moderator for Women Leaders in Data and AI.
