Description

The U.S. CMS and ONC regulations focus on making healthcare data, especially patient data, more accessible. The goal is an ecosystem of apps and services that can access a participant's data from multiple sources, aggregate and overlay information and provide a 360 view of useful information. Interoperability is the key to opening the doors to healthcare innovation and the pandemic has showcased that we are in dire need of interoperability and innovation in patient care.
Interoperability and access to patient data open up interesting security and privacy challenges though. How can a patient ensure the right apps consume just the right amount of consented data? How does an organisation protect privacy whilst providing public access to data? Where does one draw the proverbial line between data access and data security?
This session looks at the intersection of interoperability and security. We draw on success stories from healthcare as well as other industries and look at how technology and individual components can pave the way for smart innovation whilst preserving patient data privacy and security.
