Name
Trust, Transparency, Dependence and You
Description

As the world is increasingly dependent upon digital infrastructure, it is increasingly dependent upon you. Software and hyperconnectivity permeate every aspect of our lives - with mortal consequences - and increasing impact on the critical infrastructure which supports modern society. Over the last two years we've seen successful hacking compromises of: The water we drink, the food we put on our tables, the oil and gas that fuels our cars and our homes, the timely availability of patient care -- during a pandemic--the schools our kids go to, the municipalities who run our towns and our cities and even the federal government. 'Stuff' is on fire; in the end, the trust we place in our digital infrastructure should be proportional to how trustworthy and transparent that infrastructure is and to the consequences of failure if that trust is misplaced. We're gonna need a bigger boat. The first principles behind DevOps and cloud-native innovations may just be on the right path to meet these challenges. Let's confront some harsh truths - and ground ourselves in the work to be done.
